Most first time visitors to Britain head for London, and why not, it's the England's Capital and there is plenty to see and do. Famous for it's gallery's, theaters, shops and history (many of the national museums based in London are free) amongst other things.
London is very difficult to leave. You could spend a lifetime there, let alone a vacation, without getting bored. But London isn’t England: there’s so much to see and do beyond the extremities of the Underground that some longer day trips are de rigueur. The same routes that bring millions of commuters into the capital daily can be used to advantage as highways to adventure. Visit Britain has selected ten of the best and, within minutes of breakfasting in the capital, you can be on your way to a stately home, seaside resort or historic city, confident you will be back in time for the nightlife.
Over the next few weeks we will be bringing you details of these places, so check back each day and see what ideas there are.
Meanwhile, we'd love to here what your ideas are for interesting and fun day trips from London. Please feel free to leave your ideas and thoughts in our comments section.
